POLAR BEAR

Find them in the Polar Bear Odyssey.

The polar bear’s coat is a typical example of adaptation to cold weather climate. It is almost impermeable to freezing temperatures and permits long periods of immersion in the icy Arctic waters. The hairs of the coat are hollow and provide efficient waterproofing and insulation. The coat can be up to 4 inches long in the winter. They also have a layer of blubber up to 4 inches thick. A pregnant female may go without eating for up to 8 months. This is why it is extremely important for polar bears to gorge on seals during the winter months.
