Metro Public Libraries Summer Reading Program Kick Off at the Como Park Zoo, Thursday, June 14, 2007

Kick-off events are from 10 am - 2 pm, rain or shine, and include all kinds of special "Go Bananas" activities:

 

  • 10:15am: Head to the Primate area to watch the orangutans begin "their" summer reading program.

  • 10:45am: Check out the Zookeeper talk in the Visitor's Center.  Topic: Banana Eaters, of course!
     
  • 11:45am and 1pm: Dazzlin' Dave, National Yo Yo Master will amaze you with his incredible yo-yo skills in the Picnic Pavilion on the grounds of Como Zoo.

  • 12:30pm: Circus Manduhai performs an astonishing array of hand balancing, foot juggling, hula hoop, acrobatics, and juggling in the Picnic Pavilion on the grounds of Como Zoo.

  • 1:30pm: Hear the Gardener Talk in the Visitor's Center. Topic: You guessed it - banana plants!

  Throughout the event, enjoy:

  • music from DJ Bill
  • stop at one of the MELSA Tattoo Stations for your "Go Bananas" temporary tattoo
  • play the library trivia wheel
  • get your face painted
  • get your photo taken at the "Go Bananas at Your Library" photo stand (disposable cameras sold at the Gift Shop, or bring your own camera)
  • check out all of the great animals at the Como Park Zoo!
