BOTANICAL DRAWING I

Materials:
Paper
- Sketch pad, 9" x 12"
- Drawing pad, 18" x 24": A bit heavier weight than Sketch, more expensive; prefer acid-free (buffered)
- Watercolor Paper, 3 - 5 sheets, 90 - 140 lb., a variety of textures (rough, cold press and hot press), 11" x 14" to 15" x 22". For exercises, inexpensive is fine.
Drawing Tools
- Drawing Pencils: 4B, 2B, HB or F, 2H, 4H
- Charcoal stick
- Vine charcoal
- Conte Crayon: 1 white and 1 black
Erasers
Pens and Points
- Pen Holder (Handle for dip pens), for Hawkquill points.
- Hawkquill Pen Point.
- Scratchboard "Knife" or "point": diamond or spade shaped point that fits into a dip pen holder, to be used for Scratchboard
Ink
- Black waterproof drawing ink
Brushes
- 1 Watercolor round, approx size 8 - 12; OR Chinese or Japanese (bamboo) brush.
Tools
- 12" Ruler
- X-acto Knife
- Blending Stump
