·LIBRARY PROGRAMS

Our library programs feature interactive components that teach
children about cultures, plants and animals from around the world.
Each program has a combination of creative role play and/or costumes, songs, and story telling. There are a wide variety of activities to meet multiple ages that visit libraries. Programs are approximately 30 to 45 minutes in length and each one contains plant and/or animal visitors.

The cost per program is $200, with a firm limit of 100 people.

Como currently offers 4 topics:

Rabbit Gets Creative - New!
All about Birds
Goin’ Bananas!
A Journey through Africa

In Rabbit Gets Creative, students will be mesmerized with a wise (and creative) rabbit story that explores the ins and outs of a business partnership between two very different neighbors.  Children will learn the parts of a plant and also meet animal visitors to the garden (including a rabbit, toad, salamander or bugs).  Featured story:  Tops and Bottoms by Janet Stevens.

In All about Birds, visitors learn what makes a bird a bird, explore the differences between birds, and are engaged with a fabulous bird story. In All about Birds, participants will have the opportunity to meet a live parrot, hawk, owl, chicken or quail.

A Journey through Africa takes children through this continent discovering the vast diversity it holds. Visitors will meet plants and animals from Africa, learn to count in Swahili, and explore folklores that originated in Africa. In A Journey through Africa, participants will have the opportunity to meet reptiles (tortoises or snakes), small mammals (hedgehogs), or bugs.

Goin’ Bananas helps children explore the fascinating variety and life cycle of bananas. Students will be captivated by a lively banana story and learn the cultural importance of "nature's perfect fruit." In Goin' Bananas, participants will see live banana plants and will have the opportunity to meet "banana eating animals" (such as bats, bugs, hedgehogs, reptiles, or a parrot).

We understand that libraries are often open spaces, and due to animal requirements, we ask for a presentation area against a solid surface such as a wall, bookcase, or in a corner. We also request a large table to hold props, plants and animals for the program.
