OVERNIGHT ADVENTURES FOR GIRL SCOUTS

Work towards earning a badge with Como Park Zoo and Conservatory staff! We offer a variety of classes that will allow girl scouts to take part in unique experiences while meeting new friends. Each 90-minute class will include fun and interactive activities to get you thinking about the world in a whole new way.

FOR THE LOVE OF EARTH
Zoos and conservatories around the world are working hard to preserve the natural world, and you can help too! Visit Como Park Zoo and Conservatory to learn about the basic needs of plants and animals and how you can make smart choices to help protect them. Tour behind-the-scenes areas of the Conservatory, meet a zookeeper and meet one of Como’s animal ambassadors. Hear about conservation efforts happening at Como Park and learn how you can make a difference! Activities can be applied to the Earth Connections badge. Participation patches are included.

JOURNEY TO JAPAN
Take time to learn more about your world. Discover the symbolism and meaning of flags from countries near and far. Explore the history and customs of our “sister city” in Japan with a virtual tour of our Japanese Garden. Try your hand at Gyotaku, the traditional art of Japanese fish printing. Activities can be applied toward the Global Awareness badge. Participation patches are included.

TRIP TO THE TROPICS
Take a trip to the tropics right here in Minnesota! Our adventure begins with a look at some of the coolest plants and animals in the Tropical Encounters exhibit. From there, we will venture into learning more about the important plant and animal connections that make rain forests such unique environments. Our trip would not be complete without a look at the lives of people who depend on the rain forest each and every day! Participation patches are included.
