Education stations are a pre-paid experience that allows flexibility for school groups to learn about various plant and animal-related topics related to Como Park Zoo and Conservatory. A fee of $4 per student allows access to the Education Stations, chaperones and teachers are not charged a fee. Education stations are developed for students in grades 1-5.
Five stations will be featured, each with a unique learning opportunity. Students will receive a pamphlet with information or tasks for the five stations. A Como educator and Como volunteers will be present to assist in learning, while some stations may be self-guided with instructions for a chaperone to easily lead students through the learning activity. It is intended that students spend 25-30 minutes among the stations, however, it is self-paced and may vary for each learner.
Stations are developed for students in 1st to 5th grade. It is intended that groups of 8-10 students with a chaperone visit the Education Station zone. Although there is space for an entire class to attend at the same time, it is not necessary, and each smaller chaperone group can attend as they find time during the 10:00-12:00 time frame.
Education Stations are available Tuesdays and Fridays in April and May from 10:00-12:00.
The Education stations can be found outdoors as you enter the zoo, adjacent to the Primate building.
