Join Us January 19-21 For An African Adventure…at Como!

It’s January and it’s cold, but Como Park Zoo & Conservatory will celebrate the warmth that is sure to come with an “African Adventure” weekend. Como has packed in the fun for the upcoming Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. weekend with three days and many way to escape the cold and learn about what’s happening in warmer parts of the world as we take visitors on an African Adventure January 19-21, sponsored by our partners at Xcel Energy.

From 10am to 4pm Saturday through Monday visitors can stop at stations inside the Visitor Center to explore the biomes of Africa. There will be animals and plants visitors, scavenger hunt, crafts, games, silly storytime, zookeeper talks and gardener talks.

On Sunday afternoon from 4:30-6:30 trek into the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory for a Folky-Tonk good time at Como’s free winter concert series, “Music Under Glass”. January 20th’s band, Pushing Chain, is a musical duo from Northern Minnesota, which has been performing together in various manifestations since 1997, playing Folky-Tonk music featuring Boyd Blomberg on guitar and vocals and Adam Moe on the fiddle and vocals. Strong songwriting, tight harmonies, and a gonzo approach have been winning fans for Pushing Chain across the Midwest and beyond.. Beer, wine, soda, and light snacks will be available to purchase.
