All Is Not Quiet At Como Park Zoo & Conservatory

The Holiday Flower Show, opening December 2, 2017 in the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory, is a visual sensation to behold featuring hundreds of poinsettias. This year the Sunken Garden will showcase a sizzling floral spectrum of soft pinks and whites.

On December 2nd, 9th, 10th and 17th from 8am-10am, the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory will be open for individuals and families to use the beautiful setting as a backdrop for photos before hours. For $5.00 per person guests are welcome to bring in their own camera and find the perfect spot for their holiday photo.

The Holiday Flower Show tradition began in 1925 and continues to be the most anticipated and visited flower attraction at the Conservatory today. The Holiday Flower Show will run from December 2, 2017 to January 7, 2018.

Flurry of Activities In December

‘Insect Pollinators – Beyond the Honey Bee Volume 2’
November 18 – January 21, 2018
10am – 4pm Daily
A photo exhibit featuring dramatic close-up images of insects and plants by Minneapolis artist Bill Johnson. Over 25 color prints portraying stunning detail not seen by the naked eye are on display.

Family Photo Morning
December 2nd, 9th, 10th and 17th
8am – 10am
Whether you choose the lush greenery of the North Garden or the poinsettias in the Sunken Garden, this is the perfect opportunity to use the beautiful setting of the many gardens inside the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory as a backdrop for holiday family photos. Guests are welcome to bring in their own camera and find the perfect spot for their photo.
This is also a great opportunity for artists and photographer’s to bring in their easels and tripods before hours.

Holiday Tea
December 6
11am seating & 2pm seating (act quickly, only 2 tables remain available!)
Leave the cool weather outside and delight in an afternoon garden tea service in the beautiful Marjorie McNeely Conservatory. Guests will dine on a scrumptious 3 course tea service and receive a behind-the-scenes tour of the Conservatory. Tickets cost $45. Space is extremely limited and reservations are required by calling 651-487-8250.

Noon Year’s Eve
December 31 & January 1
11:00am – 1:00pm
A family event so popular, we’re doing it twice! Ring in the “Zoo” year during a special Noon Year’s Celebration on December 31 & January 1. Kidsdance, Minnesota’s favorite high-energy, interactive DJ service for kids, will be here both days with tunes, contests, and fabulous prizes! We will have craft making, special animal enrichment, giveaways, and a countdown to noon with hundreds of beach balls dropped from the ceiling.

Holiday Shopping in Garden Safari Gifts
10am – 4pm Daily

Como Park Zoo and Conservatory Background
For over 100 years, Marjorie McNeely Conservatory and Como Zoo in Saint Paul, Minnesota has charmed, educated and entertained millions of children and adults while fostering an appreciation of the natural world, helping to make Saint Paul the Most Livable City in America. The Como Park Zoo and Conservatory is open 365 days; 10am-4pm from October 1-March 31and 10am-6pm from April 1-September 30. Admission to both the Como Zoo and Marjorie McNeely Conservatory is always free and a voluntary donation is appreciated.
