Marjorie McNeely Conservatory at Como Park Receives Honor

Saint Paul, MN (August 26, 2010) – The Marjorie McNeely Conservatory at Como Park is honored to be selected as an official All-America Selections Flower Display Garden.

An All-America Selections (AAS) Display Garden is a public or privately funded garden open to the public that grows AAS Winner plants (from seed) in an attractive outdoor landscaped setting using horticulturally sound practices which beautify the environment. As a AAS Display Garden the Conservatory will receive shipments of AAS annual plant seeds, which the Conservatory will grow in its greenhouse and display for visitors beginning next summer.

The Marjorie McNeely Conservatory is one of fewer than 200 gardens in North America with the AAS distinction, and the sixth garden in Minnesota. “This is a great honor,” says Horticulture Manager Tina Dombrowski. “We are looking forward to receiving our first shipment of seed at the end of the year, and hope to have some of the flowers displayed in our Flower Shows and gardens.”

In addition to the Sunken Garden (home of the seasonal garden shows) the Conservatory features a Japanese Garden, Fern room, Bonsai Gallery, Orchid House, North Garden, Palm Dome, Tropical Encounters, and the outdoor Enchanted Garden and Blooming Butterflies gardens.
