Look for Como’s Trees in the Skyways of Saint Paul & MPLS!

See the best Fall colors without leaving town. To celebrate the changing of the seasons, Como is embarking on an inventive campaign to gain attention for the Zoo & Conservatory’s colorful attractions.

The provocative guerilla campaign, created by BBDO Proximity Minneapolis, features trees decorated with colorful, animal print inspired leaves which will rotate throughout various public locations in Minneapolis and Saint Paul. Not only are the leaves pretty to look at, they’re functional, too. Four thousand of the ten thousand leaves printed have a QR code which, when scanned, links to a webpage offering several discounts and promotions at the Zoo and Conservatory. The public is encouraged to take a leaf with a QR code and redeem it at Como Park Zoo & Conservatory for special discounts on Family Memberships, Garden Safari Gifts, Zobota Cafe, education classes and birthday parties. The trees are one element of an integrated campaign that will run throughout the month of October and into early November.

“We hope these colorful displays will remind people that they don’t have to travel outside of the Twin Cities to enjoy the fall season,” said Como Campus Director Michelle Furrer. “Fall really is a great time to visit the Zoo and Conservatory. The grounds tend to be less crowded, and some of the animals become more active as the weather cools off. The Conservatory’s Fall Flower Show provides a beautiful display of fall colors, as do the trees and gardens in the surrounding Como Park area.”

The trees will be placed in the Saint Paul Skyway system at the following locations beginning Tuesday, October 9th:

Alliance Bank (near the food court)

US Bank Center

Town Square

More locations will be added later in October.

Although some events end on Labor Day, including the Sparky the Sea Lion Show, many visitor events continue year round. During the fall and winter months visitors can still enjoy daily Zookeeper Talks, Gardener Talks, Bear Program presentations, and Story Time readings. In addition, the Conservatory presents three different flower shows between October and March, including the Fall Flower Show, Holiday Show, and Winter Flower Show.

BBDO Proximity Minneapolis is a fully integrated creative agency specializing in creating behavior-changing ideas for clients such as Hormel Foods, Aviva Life & Annuities, Jennie-O Turkey Stores, Formica Corporation, Schwan’s Foods, and Como Park Zoo and Conservatory.
