“Washed Ashore Weekend” presented by Xcel Energy September 22 & 23

Have you seen our visually stunning traveling exhibit “Washed Ashore” yet? If not, this would be a great weekend to check out all the sculptures…it’s a Washed Ashore Weekend presented by Xcel Energy! This massive, colorful, traveling art exhibit will only be on display until October 21, so join us in celebrating the last few weeks of this special exhibit. We will have activity, craft, and play stations, special Zookeeper Talks, Gardener Talks, and a Sculpture Scavenger Hunt! With fall weather on the way, our friends at Xcel Energy will also be on hand to show visitors how to lower their energy bills.

The Washed Ashore exhibit features giant sea life sculptures made entirely of marine debris collected from beaches to graphically illustrate the plastic pollution found in our oceans and waterways. The artwork is combined with scientifically based educational signage to teach visitors about ocean stewardship, responsible consumer habits and how every action counts to help save our seas.
