Primate Enrichment
Primate Building
2/4/2012
10:00 am
Enrichment activities enhance zoo environments for animals, stimulating them to investigate and interact with their surroundings. Como Zoo enriches animal environments by making changes to structures in their enclosures, presenting novel objects and smells for them to investigate and explore, and by changing how we present food to them. It encourages them to forage, hunt and handle their food in ways that are natural to them in the wild.

Hidden World of Bears - Traveling Exhibit
Bonsai Room
2/4/2012
10:00 am
Explore the intimate details of black bear behavior through the photos and insights of long-time bear researcher, Dr. Lynn Rogers. The Hidden World of Bears exhibition features about 70 of Dr. Roger’s framed photographs of bears. Most of the photographs are of black bears, documenting their life as cubs born in a winter den, and on through the spring and summer months, as they eat, play, and interact with other bears—and at times people, finally culminating in the construction of a new winter den in the fall. Other dramatic photographs include portraits of polar bears and brown bears in Hudson Bay and Alaska.

Music Under Glass - Café Accordion Orchestra
Marjorie McNeely Conservatory
2/4/2012
5:00 pm
“Berets and Bongos” describes the Café Accordion Orchestra experience. A loungy, eclectic mix, full of French flare, Latin heat and Bohemian attitude. The heart of the Café Accordion repertoire is the romantic, gypsy-influenced valse-musette. The group complements the musettes with swing, ballads, tangos, cha chas, rumbas, and cumbias to create a wonderfully varied show. They inject their music with good humor and expressive abandon. Their high level of musicianship and passion for performance makes them an entertaining concert act as well as a great dance band.
Music Under Glass is supported by the Legacy Amendment MORE

Music Under Glass - Robb Henry Trio
Marjorie McNeely Conservatory
2/4/2012
5:00 pm
Guitarist Robb Henry is perhaps best known for his work with Parisota Hot Club, a group he helped form to explore the jazz stylings of french guitarist Django Reinhardt in 2001. This music gets a fresh approach with Henry's new trio featuring his eclectic, electric guitar playing. Also, featured are Jim Chenoweth on string bass and Ben Kaplan at the drums. This listening experience will include new interpretations of Django Reinhardt classics mixed with pop melodies of the '60's and bluesy improvisations. The music of the Robb Henry Trio shows deep, musical ties to past roots with a sensibility of sound firmly planted in the present.
Music Under Glass is supported by the Legacy Amendment MORE

The Hidden World of Bears exhibition features about 70 of Dr. Roger’s framed photographs of bears. Most of the photographs are of black bears, documenting their life as cubs born in a winter den, and on through the spring and summer months, as they eat, play, and interact with other bears—and at times people, finally culminating in the construction of a new winter den in the fall. Other dramatic photographs include portraits of polar bears and brown bears in Hudson Bay and Alaska.
