The polar bear’s coat is a typical example of adaptation to cold weather climate. It is almost impermeable to freezing temperatures and permits long periods of immersion in the icy Arctic waters.

Fall Flower Show

While many Minnesota gardens are winding down for the winter season, the Sunken Garden at the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory will be in full bloom! The Fall Flower Show features a variety of Chrysanthemums. The colors for the show will be red and yellow. MORE

Washed Ashore: Art to Save the Sea

10:00 am

The Washed Ashore exhibit features giant sea life sculptures made entirely of marine debris collected from beaches to graphically illustrate the plastic pollution found in our oceans and waterways. The artwork will be combined with scientifically based educational signage to teach visitors about ocean stewardship, responsible consumer habits and how every action counts to help save our seas. Watch as primate keepers interact with our great apes, monkeys, tamarins, and lemurs. Education specialists will interpret the training session and answer any questions you may have. MORE
