A new name, a new look, the same outstanding work on behalf of Como Park Zoo and Conservatory.
The Como Zoo and Conservatory Society introduced its new look and new name to the community in May 2008.
The Como Friends will carry on the exceptional work of the Society to promote, support, preserve and enhance Como Park Zoo and Conservatory.
Since forming in 1999, Como Friends has donated $20.5 million to Como Park Zoo and Conservatory. Contributions support three initiatives:
- Visionary capital improvements such as the Visitor Center, Tropical Encounters and soon to be Polar Bear Odyssey and Japanese Gardens Experience.
- Creation and growth of endowment funds to support garden and animal habitat improvements as well as education program growth. Funds have grown from $12,000 to $5.6 million.
- Annual investments in programs and improvements to benefit animals, gardens and visitors. Gifts have made possible new gardens in front of the Visitor Center, a renovated Sparky Amphitheatre, expanded education programs and Blooming Butterflies – Como’s new butterfly habitat.

Since 1999, Como Park Zoo and Conservatory has experienced a renaissance of programmatic and capital improvements. Como Friends is proud to be at the center of all of these improvements in partnership with Como Park Zoo and Conservatory and the state of Minnesota.
There are many ways to support Como Zoo and the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory...
