BENCHES

A Commemorative Donor Bench recognizes your gift to Como Park Zoo and Conservatory while providing a unique enhancement to the grounds. Commemorative benches are a great way to remember a loved one, a special memory or to be used as a memorial.

Benches include a bronze plaque, located on or near your bench, with your custom message.

Placement

Plaques are placed in the available bench location of your choice. Locations will be reserved in order of applications received.

Cost

Benches are $5,000. They are suitable for both individuals and corporations.

BRICKS

Commemorative bricks are located in Como Zoo’s Donor Plaza located near the Bird Exhibit. A Donor Plaza brick is appropriate for both individuals and corporations and serves as a commemoration of your memories of Como Zoo. Gifts support expanded programs and exhibits at Como Zoo.

Smaller Zoo and Conservatory bricks are SOLD OUT and orders are no longer being accepted.

The cost per brick ranges from $1,000 – $25,000 based on the size of the brick:

2′x2′ bricks custom lettering, $1,000
4′x4′ bricks custom lettering, $10,000
4′x6′ bricks custom lettering, $15,000
6′x6′ bricks custom lettering, $20,000
6′x12′ bricks custom lettering, $25,000

Inscription and Design

A $300 design fee covers any typography and art placement. Art must be supplied by the donor in electronic form, preferably in vector format (Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, or .eps files).

Any custom illustrations including portraits must be supplied by the donor. Como friends can refer you to some freelance designers and illustrators.

All final art must be in Vector format to ensure the best engraving.

Installations

Bricks are installed twice a year, in the spring and in the fall. Exact installation dates cannot be predicted because they depend on weather, construction schedules in the park and other circumstances. You will be notified after your brick is installed.

Spring Installation: Bricks must be ordered by January 31.
Fall Installation: Bricks must be ordered by July 31.
